| Infrared Saunas from East End Spa and
Sauna offer an experience with additional pleasurable and health
benefits not available in conventional saunas. Infrared saunas
come in sizes to fit most places at surprisingly affordable
prices.
Conventional saunas heat the air by conduction of heat from
the heating elements and hot rocks. The hot air then heats the
body by convection and conduction on the surface of the skin.
While in a conventional sauna 100% of the energy is used to
heat air, in an infrared sauna 80% of the energy is available
to be directly converted to heat within your body. As a result
operating costs of an infrared sauna are significantly lower
than for a conventional sauna.
Infrared sauna heaters generate an invisible form of electromagnetic
radiation called far infrared waves which gently penetrate directly
into the body. We experience infrared heat naturally from sunlight,
fireplaces and body heat as well as numerous other sources.
Infrared heat deeply warms the entire skin including
the inner layer of sensory receptors, nerve fibers, blood and
lymph vessels and also the innermost layer where fat functions
as a protective cushion for and to insulate the body. Infrared
heaters are used to keep premature babies warm, and also in
connection with therapies to detoxify the body from contamination
by heavy metals.
The experience of an infrared sauna differs from a conventional
sauna mainly in that the temperatures are more comfortable.
Breathing and concentration are easy as the penetrating warmth
of an infrared sauna generates healthy perspiration without
causing physical discomfort. Blood circulation increases and
pores are unclogged, leaving you with clean skin and a distinctive
feeling of well-being.
Many people will prefer to use an infrared sauna and
will continue to do so on a regular basis because the cooler
air combines with a thoroughly warm feeling. It is also possible
to install both conventional and infrared heaters to create
a hybrid sauna species.
